The Cantaloupe is a melon - a perfect metaphor for a sphere. In this film Steina uses the Digital Image Articulator that she built with Woody and Jeffrey Schier, and, at the same time, explains how this machine for manipulation is built. The DIA divides the images into manipulative elements (pixels). Steina explains the problems of pixel size, problems of the colour phases of each pixel (red, green and blue) and talks about techniques such as image freeze or image multiplication. The film essentially retains the basis of all the Vasulka´s video work of the Seventies and at the same time, is a proof of real artistic maturity.
